About
TK Studios has been my catch-all name for private projects and freelance work since the late 1990′s.
I’m James Sylvanus, a graphic designer, web designer/developer, and web tech geek. I have an associates’ degree in graphic design and half of a computer science bachelor’s degree (it’s a long story).
I worked for ProSun International, a national manufacturer of (primarily) tanning equipment, for about 5 years. For most of that time, I was essentially the entire marketing department. I learned a lot there, mostly about advertising, SEO, and user experience, but eventually felt that I’d exhausted my growth potential in that environment.
In 2009, I set out as TK Studios, and started a monster of a web project, www.listy.us. Listy is a web service / application built around the concept of creating and sharing rich media lists. In other words, spreadsheets, minus the computation ability, plus the ability to enter large chunks of formatted text and various file formats into the fields. The project launched quietly in September of 2009, got a UI overhaul in early 2010, and remains a focus of my development efforts.
This blog is mostly a by-product of my efforts to make Listy.us and other projects a sustainable business. Another by-product, not yet released (but soon!) is phpScenario, a split testing (A/B) library written in object-oriented PHP.
The blog doesn’t update very often, as I tend to remain quiet unless I have something very important to say. It’s one of those introvert things, I guess.
Thank you for visiting my blog, it means a lot to me that people find this content helpful.
